In
early March, Kayci began going to the day school two days
a week at the First Methodist church. This was her first
day of school, and she was VERY excited. We looked all over
for a lunch box for her, but they're pretty hard to come
by this time of year. So, she decided that it would be okay
to use one of my Superman lunch boxes until we could find
her something more ... girly.

She's
so excited. Kayci had been asking a lot if I could
pick her up from Kindercare in Houston. To do that
usually requires me to take off almost a half day
of work, so we've only done that a couple of times.
I
was excited, too. See, when we lived in Houston
and Kristi
was
teaching
I used
to
take
Kayci to day care every day. I would wake her up
in the morning, bathe her and get her dressed.
Then we would drive to day care, usually singing
the whole
way. It was the highlight of my day every day.
The three minute trek to the day school wouldn't
be quite
the same, but it was just a little taste of that
Daddy/Kayci time that I missed ever since.

Spring
time in Brenham is simply beautiful. There are
flowers literally popping up everywhere and everything
is
lush and green. This year was an extraordinary
year for bluebonnets, partly because we got a lot
of good
rain early in the spring and partly because we
had some really good freezing weather this winter.
Kayci
had a lot of fun in the bluebonnets. It's funny - now that
we live in Brenham, this is the only year that we didn't
actually get our family photo in the bluebonnets. There were
several circumstances that just always seemed to pop up.
On weekend, though, Jhido came up for an afternoon to see
the bluebonnets and we did get some good photos of Kayci
in them.
I
like this photo because of that little devlish grin and because
it's a candid shot. It also reminds me of some photos we
took of Kayci sitting in a field of wildflowers when she
was about 8 months old. To this day, those are still some
of my favorite photos of her.

| This is a photo Kayci took of her new shoes.
It speaks for itself.

| March 19 is Daddy's birthday, so he took the
day off and our little family went to the Natural History Museum
in Houston. First, we went to the butterfly exhibit, where Kayci
saw thousands of butterflies flying around her in a simluated
tropical rainforest. |
|
| We had a lot of fun at the museum. As we we
were leaving, Kayci enjoyed playing outside near a pool of water.
This is her laughing and being silly. I think we had just told
her that she wasn't actually the boss in our house. She obviously
knew better. |
|
| This is when we rode the
train, as we always do when we go to the zoo. She was a little
ticked off here because they told her they couldn't drive the
train. She showed them, though. As soon as we got off the train,
she ran through a flock of pigeons, making them fly over the
train and poop all over the conductor. |
